Judge: Paula Anderson

Overall Judge's Choice:

Judge's Choice
Spot Me At The Lindy Hop
Owned by Charlotte Martin
"This entry placed 4th in it's class because of a few small details such as tack adjustment, and description information (the owner can contact me for specifics if they want), but I selected this as my judges choice for serveral reasons:

1. Clever 'other performance' entry; something a little different. I like to see that a competitor is using their imagination and their knowledge of horses. I know many people don't have access to real horses, lessons, or trainers, but reading horse books, magazines and of course using online resources for research can help make your entries interesting and realistic.

2. Realistic looking, in-scale background. I particularly think the pine trees outside the fence were very well placed. Notice that they add depth to the scene (imagine them not being there, and you can see the image is much 'flatter' in appearance) but are placed mostly in front of and behind the model so as not to draw our eye away from the horse and rider (for example, imagine if the tip of one tree were placed between the horse's mane and the rider doll's hand).

3. Lovely lighting on the set-up; this allows the judge to clearly see and evaluate the tack/prop adjustment, and also creates a nice overall 'artistic feel to the image."

Note: the winner of the judge's choice was awarded a gift certificate from H and H Winner's Circle.
